For Harley, a visit to MaudCare from Aisha Coe of White House Estate Agents became the beginning of an exciting employment opportunity.
When Aisha visited MaudCare, something told Harley to ask if she had any work available.
“With Aisha being from England and me being King Harley after all, I thought I’d ask!”
Harley explained that he needed some extra money but he was also eager to find something he would enjoy and take pride in. When Aisha said yes, Harley was thrilled.
“I was so happy when she said yes. I had to wait weeks to get my first pamphlet box and it felt like such a long time because I was eager to start.”
Harley now delivers real estate pamphlets for White House Estate Agents two to three times each week. He delivers around 200 pamphlets per week, following a map and walking through local streets to complete each mail drop.

Harley shared that he enjoys putting the pamphlets into letterboxes, meeting new people and getting exercise at the same time. He usually walks for around 30 minutes, although when he is supported by Dee, she encourages him to continue for up to an hour.
“I have fun doing the mail drops and getting exercise. It makes me feel proud and happy.”
Since beginning the role, Harley has developed a range of valuable skills. He has become more confident finding streets, following maps and taking responsibility for completing his work. He has also noticed an improvement in his fitness from walking regularly.
For Harley, one of the best parts of the job is connecting with people in the community.
“I feel more confident now because I’m used to seeing lots of people and they are friendly towards me when they see me doing the mail drop. I meet friendly people all the time. They always say hi back to me and sometimes we have a chat too.”
The money Harley earns also gives him more independence and allows him to enjoy the activities that matter to him. He likes using his earnings for outings, trips to Melbourne, going to the movies and attending the football.
Harley describes Aisha as a kind boss and is proud to be part of White House Estate Agents. He would like to continue delivering pamphlets because he enjoys the work, it keeps him active and it allows him to earn his own money.

Harley’s journey shows the importance of having the confidence to ask for an opportunity, even after experiencing setbacks.
When asked what advice he would give to someone looking for work, Harley said:
“Never give up. I’ve been told no so many times but I never gave up.”
Harley’s journey is a wonderful example of how confidence, determination and the right support can open doors to meaningful employment. We are incredibly proud to see Harley continue building his independence, staying active and making a positive contribution to his local community through his work with White House Estate Agents.
